Pushpa 2 Faces Multiple Censorship Cuts in Saudi Arabia; Allu Arjun's Jathara Sequence Removed

Indian films frequently face censorship issues in Saudi Arabia, and Allu Arjun’s highly anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule is no exception. Following the bans on Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 for references to Indian gods and LGBTQ themes, Pushpa 2 encountered scrutiny over its portrayal of Hindu deities in the much-discussed Jathara sequence.

Reports indicate that the Saudi censor board objected to a scene where Allu Arjun, playing the hero, appears dressed as a goddess, along with other extensive references to Hindu gods. After negotiations and 19 minutes of cuts, the film was ultimately approved for release.

The approved version of Pushpa 2 in Saudi Arabia now runs for 3 hours and 1 minute, but fans in Gulf countries will miss the full, unedited grandeur of the original. The heavily edited Jathara sequence, which is central to the storyline, may disrupt the narrative flow.

The controversy has ignited discussions about artistic expression and cultural sensitivity in global markets. With Pushpa 2 set to screen in the Gulf, it remains unclear whether the edited version will have the same impact on audiences as the original cut.

Meanwhile, in India, excitement is building as fans eagerly await the next chapter in Pushparaju’s journey on the big screen.
